Myhand.thanx records were sleeping peacefully when they were suddenly awoken by an unknown buzzing noise... Unknown but also very familiar... "I know" opens Hanging Freud new album and the floor under your feet crumbles down... and you fall down, and down, and the album is like an endless jump into a comfortable darkness... Very oxymoronic, isn't it? It's what I said to Paula and Jonathan after listening to "Nowhere" it's dark and moving at the same time. Unknown and familiar. Scary and comforting. Electronic and organic.
I can't help thinking of some songs by My Bloody Valentine or Masfield.tya, but also of cold wave (yeah, the coldest one...), drone music, krautrock, lyricism...
This is why I love these two people and will always support their art of mixing, melting and transcending what's around and inside them.
Don't be afraid to dive into "Nowhere"... it will lead you where you need to be.

mh.t046 - Borgesss - The Invisible Rope

 As soon as the first chords resound, we are hooked... "Does god lie?" opens Borgesss's album with an incantatory tone, as if the artist wanted to hypnotize the listeners, and then the echo takes us into the other songs... and it's impossible to stop. The 6 tracks flow naturally, guitar + voice centered, in a peculiar atmosphere. This second creation by Paula Borges (Hanging Freud) is brilliant and simply beautiful. All songs are quite short, but they go straight into you! Every single sound has a role to play, the instruments and the voices are mixed in a perfect way, making "The Invisible Rope" the kind of work of art that should be known all over the world! The kind of album that one always wants to share with friends...
Difficult to say which track is our favourite, because they all have "a thing"... The opening track is mesmerizing, "Boredom" has this folk guitar riff that reminds us of My Bloody Valentine, "Fireworks" is scary in a certain way with this saturated bass haunting the song, "The Witch Grabs You By The Hand" has this 70s mood, the looped arpeggio on "Darkest Blue" melts with Paula's wonderful voice, and the closing track... "Wolf" brings a beautiful conclusion, draws us slowly out of the album, out of the dream...

 Dès les premiers accords, on est happé... "Does god lie?" ouvre l'album de Borgesss dans un ton incantatoire, comme si l'artiste voulait hypnotiser l'auditeur, et puis, l'écho nous emporte dans les autres titres... impossible de s'arrêter. Les 6 titres s'enchaînent naturellement, centrés sur la guitare et la voix, dans une atmosphère particulière. Cette deuxième création de Paula Borges (Hanging Freud) est brillante et tout simplement belle. Les chansons sont plutôt courtes, mais elles sont très directes! Le moindre son a un rôle à jouer, les instruments et les voix sont parfaitement mixés, faisant de "The Invisible Rope" une oeuvre d'art qui devrait être connue par tout le monde! Ce genre d'album que l'on veut constamment faire écouter aux amis... Difficle de dire quel est notre titre préféré, car ils ont tous un "truc"... Le titre d'ouverture est envoûtant, "Boredom"a ce riff de guitare folk qui rappelle My Bloody Valentine, "Fireworks" est effrayant en quelque sorte, avec cette basse saturée qui hante le morceau, "The With Grabs You By The Hand" a cette touche très seventies, l'arpège en boucle de "Darkest Blue" se mélange avec la merveilleuse voix de Paula, et le dernier titre... "Wolf" apporte une belle conclusion, en nous tirant doucement hors de l'album, hors du rêve...

For the first time, myhand.thanx is releasing a live recording! And it's a double release actually! On March 11th, 2017, ThOmas.W gave a particularly rare performance at Le17, an art gallery from Saint Etienne, France and the concert was recorded on video! So you can download either the audio files or the film! You will have a glimpse of the obscure atmosphere that surrounds the songs from ThOmas.W, and discover his very personal interpretation of The Cure "17 seconds". He almost plays "Long IS ThE Night" in its entirety plus a "brand new" song, "Ego + Influence" which is actually a song from his previous duet The Green Love Experiment, in a new version, with lyrics.

Paula and Jonathan from Hangin Freud have always been faithful to myhand.thanx records since the beginning, when we release "Sunken" in 2010. So, it is with joy, pleasure and a certain pride that we release "Anomalies" today!
The follow-up of "Motherland" is an EP, which contains 4 tracks. More precisely, 2 tracks and 2 interludes. So, I like to believe it has to be listened to as a whole, as if you were reading a poem or a short story. The repetitive and tribal beats echo in our heads long after the first listening, the frontier between industrial music and natural sounds is blurred, and the voice melts into the music, thus creating an intense and intemporal (and to a certain extent, universal) message to the listener. The music is "hanginfreudian" in a most wonderful and inspiring way. But, in these dark times, in this decaying political world context, it resonates like never before. We feel the urge of communicating a message before it's too late... REFUSE...

mh.t043 - Hangin Freud - Motherland

A couple of years ago, we received a message from Paula and Jonathan a.k.a Hangin Freud, telling they were working on Sunken's follow-up, entitled Motherland. And then... silence...

Last autumn, they released No Body Allowed which is still available on myhand.thanx, here. The noisy, hypnotic and nightmarish mini-album was great, and we supposed it was Motherland, and that Hangin Freud had only changed the title...

But we were so wrong! A few weeks ago, a song surfaced on youtube, posted by Hangin Freud, called Boat. Motherland was coming! They distilled the first 3 songs of the mini-album, and each one was like an extraordinary gift to our ears. The 6 tracks are really profound, mixing traditional instruments and sounds with electric guitars. The voice and words of Paula are striking with emotion and kind of ominous vision of the world. Jonathan explained Motherland was above all Paula's artistic concept, based on her observations on Brazil.

Every single song is fraught with soundscapes, landscapes and stories that stay in mind: the repetitive guitar from Boat, like waves coming back and forth, the monsters from the Kingdom, creeping ineluctably, the voices from another time responding Paula's lyrics on Motherland, the rising angst coming from The South... Lost Children is probably our favourite from the album with the closing track Centuries, both have this paradoxical atmosphere, they're the kind of song that move you to tears, and at the same time, they make you want to dance... a sad but relieving dance...

Important to note that the album was mastered by Harris Newman at greymarketmastering in Canada, that the artwork was made by Alice Porto, and that cassettes made by Cryptic Caroussel are available via HF's bandcamp!

mh.t042 - ThOmas.W - Long IS ThE Night

Here it is! ThOmas.W's new album is finally out and available for a free downoad. "Long IS ThE Night" is the 7th release of ThOmas.W on our netlabel, and his 17th since he started his solo project. This brand new album is a trip into the artist's personal story, as he told us : "The last two years have been really intense, extreme joy, extreme pain, frustration and fulfillment, and sometimes, when things go wrong, you can't do anything else but write and compose." Indeed, "Long IS ThE Night" consists in 9 tracks, 9 ups and downs, that could happen to anybody. It's not a complaint, but a really matter-of-fact display of emotions. A distorted family ("siSSter" / "sMother" / 'feAther") meets a mysterious "V", a "guudboi" gets angrier and angrier but he finally cools down as "Elvis" and his new "Brothers" come into his life... and the noise goes on, and on...
Musically, ThOmas.W's bass is still the same, weaving melodies as the songs develop, the voice is omnipresent and reminds us of "bru:t". The drums appears as a new feature in his music, and gives it a much much lo-fi colour. As the artist call his music, it's "cold noise" with a twist of "lo(ve)-fi"... We agree, and we simply love it!

Le voici! Le nouvel album de ThOmas.W est enfin là et téléchargeable gratuitement. "Long IS ThE Night" est la 7ème sortie de ThOmas.W sur notre netlabel, et sa 17ème depuis qu'il a débuté son projet solo. Musicalement, la basse de ThOmas.W est la même, tissant des mélodies au fil des chansons, la voix est omniprésente et nous rappelle "bru:t". la batterie apparaît comme un nouvel élément à part entière dans sa musique, et lui donne une coloration bien pus lo-fi. L'artiste appelle sa musique "cold noise" avec un soupçon de "lo(ve)-fi"... Nous sommes bien d'accord, et nous aimons ça!

Après de longues années d'attente, Hanging Freud nous revient avec un magnifique EP intitulé "No Body Allowed" et qui nous prend aux tripes! Le duo de Paula et Jonathan nous propose 7 titres hypnotiques, profonds et touchants. "PWM" nous plonge sans ménagement dans l'univers si particulier de "No Body Allowed", puis "Toadboy" et "It's time" nous confirment qu'Hanging Freud est définitivement un projet sans compromis, et que depuis "Sunken", sorti en 2009, leur musique radicale n'a pas pris une ride. Chaque titre sonne comme une injonction, une prémonition, une incantation. On est forcément embarqué, et les visions s'enchaînent. "Share the love" est désormais en boucle dans nos têtes, "Well, jump in" nous réveille en pleine nuit, comme un cauchemar dans lequel nous voudrions replonger immédiatement. "Porch" (qui était apparu il y a quelques temps sur le soundcloud du groupe) nous appaise, pour finalement laisser place a "Hand drop", final absolument fabuleux, au rythme entêtant, à l'atmosphère à la fois oppressante et aérienne, et cette voix...

mh.t039 - We Are All Slaves - You Must Be Stuck Into Some Complications

We Are All Slaves is a really cool project by Filip Stojiljkovic, a Serbian experimental artist. He started this noise/dark/ambient project at the age of 17, using a laptop, toys a singstar microphone, making every unsettling noise he could. "Chaos" and "mayhem"are words he likes to use when talking about WAAS... Here, at myhand.thanx records, we have been struck by the nerve of this guy! the opening title "Fucked Up and Boring" is insane, raw and as noisy as can be! The following tracks are just like knives stabbing your ears, sometimes violently, some other times slowly... It's at the same time straightforward and insidious, and always uncompromising. The closing track is a 10-minute ode to Sylvia Likens, who died a painful death in the 60's. Knowing the facts, the track takes a deeper dimension, totally disturbing and also moving. WAAS is radical, experimental and paradoxical. Download it, experience it.

mh.t038 - Borgesss - Terrified of Everything

This is the kind of news we really love at myhand! Borgesss, aka Paula Borges, aka "Hell, yeah! Paula from Hangin Freud!", offers us a delightful lo-fi EP entitled "Terrified of Everything." Four absolutely great tracks, demo-style, recorded on a 4-track cassette recorder. "Snake" opens the EP, insidiously crawling into our head, and soon, the venom invades us, and we're hooked!
"Born Again" is breathtaking, a melodious loop that leaves you speechless... but not for a long time, because the "Queen" emerges suddenly, rock'n'rolling desperately, playing a saturated guitar, haunting us with her beautiful but scary voice. "We spit" closes the EP like a nightmare we don't want to be over, we're terrified, but we have never felt so good...

C'est tout à fait le genre de nouvelle que l'on adore chez myhand! Borgess, aka Paula Borges, aka "Oh oui! C'est Paula de Hangin Freud!", nous offre ce délicieux EP lo-fi intitulé "Terrified of Everything." Il s'agit de quatre titres absolument superbes, sous forme de démos, enregistrés sur un 4 pistes cassette. "Snake" ouvre l'EP, rampant insidieusement dans notre tête, et rapidement, le venin nous envahit, et nous sommes accros! "Born again" est à couper le souffle, une boucle mélodieuse qui vous laisse bouche bée... mais pour un bref instant, car soudain, la "Queen" surgit, dans un rock désespéré, jouant une guitare saturée, nous hantant de sa belle et effrayante voix. "We spit" referme le maxi comme un cauchemar que l'on ne veut pas quitter, nous sommes terrifiés, mais nous ne nous sommes jamais sentis aussi bien...

DRUNkENC est de retour! 3 ans après "Whisper" (toujours disponible ICI), Cécile nous livre sept titres magnifiques dans un mini-album intitulé "RED". Une fois de plus, elle nous emmène loin, très loin, mais on n'est jamais perdu car DRUNkENC nous rappelle toujours notre chemin, tantôt avec une ligne de basse hypnotique ("Melody in my ears") comme elle seule en a le secret, tantôt avec une distortion noisy ("Red") qui évoque des références bien ancrées dans nos mémoires. On retrouve Polly Jean, on se remémore les débuts de Hole, les chuchotements de Kim Gordon, mais surtout cette atmosphère parfois brûlante puis glaçante... Certains titres sonnent comme une incantation ("My trouble"), une complainte ("Wanna be alone") voire une injonction ("Lovers of the past")... C'est certainement l'une des claques de cette année 2015!

Myhand.thanx Records is really happy to welcome a newcomer in our big DIY / homemade musicians family! December Nightskies is a dark ambient music project by Kendal Keeler, a prolific artist from Oklahoma, USA. "Noise Cloud" is a complete experimental record, a great global approach to Kendal's huge work. Indeed, after listening to these tracks, to these twisted soundscapes, these atmospheric collages, you will have to go further and deeper into this strange universe!
Kendal Keeler also works under other names, such as Shadows on the Snow (a project with Venus Vulture) or Something Like Squids.

Le nouvel EP de ThOmas.W s'intitule "bru:t" pour la simple raison qu'il s'agit de versions épurée, minimales, brutes de 4 anciens titres, "lost track" et "thedeathofwords" qui figurent sur son précédent EP, ainsi que "rise" et "peace", extraits de "Dancing Troubles Away." Ces reprises sont centrées sur la basse et la voix, ce qui leur donne une dimension plus intimiste, voire folk. Mais ce n'est pas tout, outre 2 nouveaux morceaux qui annoncent un futur projet particulièrement étrange, "bru:t" est accompagné de ":::i:", versant bruitiste, fruit d'improvisation d'une demie-heure, enregistrée à la fin du mixage de "bru:t"... Ce nouvel EP est disponible dans sa version initiale "sans noise" c'est-à-dire, les 6 morceaux suivis de l'improvisation bruitiste, mais il est aussi téléchargeable dans sa version "avec noise" dans laquelle les 6 morceaux sont littéralement fondus dans ":::i:"... à vous de choisir, l'un, l'autre, les 2!

ThOmas.W's new EP is called "bru:t" (French word for "raw") because it is actually minimal, raw versions of 4 former tracks, "lost track" and "thedeathofwords" which appear on his previous EP, as well as "rise" and "peace", from "Dancing Troubles Away." These covers focus on bass and voice, which gives them a more intimate atmosphere, almost like folk music. But that's not all! Besides 2 new songs annoucing a particularly strange future project, "bru:t" is released with ":::i:", noisy side, born from a 30-minute improvisation session recorded right at the end of the mastering of "bru:t"... This new EP is available as a "sans noise" version, that is, the 6 tracks followed by the noisy improvisation, but it's also downloadable as an "avec noise" version, in which the 6 tracks are completely melt inside ":::i:"... it's up to you, this one, that one, both!

mh.t034 - Wystan Whitman - Science of knock knock people

Voilà une belle surprise à l'approche de l'hiver et des jours qui raccourcissent, du froid qui s'installe et du soleil qui s'éloigne! Un nouvel album de Wystan Whitman! "Science of knock knock people" est une merveilleuse suite à "Instead of gun shopping" sorti il y a presque un an sur myhand.thanx (ICI!), 13 titres captivants, empreints d'une lo-fi qui réveille de bons souvenirs (les premiers Palace Brothers, ou encore Cat Power). Wystan Whitman nous raconte avec simplicité et puissance des histoires personnelles, à la manière d'un bon vieux bluesman, au coin d'une table, dans l'obscurité d'un bar... C'est touchant et réconfortant. Une mention spéciale pour "Le blues pour mon père", bel hommage familial (et cycliste!) en français, et le dernier titre "Almost Children", magnifique coda pour un album somptueux!

Here's a beautiful surprise for us who see winter coming closer, the days getting shorter, the cold growing colder and sun fading away... a brand new Wystan Whitman album! "Science of knock knock people" is a marvellous follow-up to "Instead of gun shopping" released almost a year ago on myhaand.thanx (HERE!), 13 captivating tracks, tinged with a lo-fi that digs up great memories (the first Palace Brothers albums, or even Cat Power's early songs). Wystan Whitman tells us with simplicity and power personal stories, as a good ol' bluesman would do, at the corner of a table, in the darkness of a bar... It is moving and comforting. Our favorites are "Le blues pour mon père" which is a beautiful family (and cycle!) tribute, and the last track "Almost Children", a wonderful coda for a sumptuous album!

mh.t033 - Datawhore (Jeremy Gluck) - The Previous Day

Voici une nouvelle collaboration de Jeremy Gluck pour myhand.thanx records, et nous en sommes honorés!
Artiste polymorphe, Jeremy Gluck nous offre ici ces premières créations electro, d'une période allant de 1997 à 2002. De ses premières expérimentations (ici offertes en bonus tracks), il nous emmène sur des contrées inexplorées pour lui, et fait la genèse de son oeuvre electronique aujourd'hui immense. C'est sous le nom de "Datawhore" que ce "Previous Day" est publié, 11 titres et 4 bonus tracks, acompagnés de notes écrites par Jeremy lui-même.

Polymorphous artist, Jeremy Gluck offers us his first electronic creations (from 1997 to 2002). From his first experiments (here given as bonus tracks), he takes us to unexplored territories for him, and tells the genesis of his now immense electronic work. This "Previous Day" is released under the name of "Datawhore", 11 tracks and 4 bonus tracks, with notes written by Jeremy himself.

Nous sommes fiers de vous offrir ce nouvel EP de ThOmas.W, "The Death of Words." 6 nouveaux titres empreints de new wave et de lo-fi, oscillant entre l'immédiateté bordélique DIY et la création sonore sculptée dans le moindre détail. C'est dans ce paradoxe, cette contradiction qu'évolue ThOmas.W, triturant des morceaux pendant des semaines jusqu'à en obtenir la quintessence ("Pretend you're dead"), ou bien branchant ses instruments pour enregistrer "The Drowning" avant qu'il ne soit trop tard... L'urgence de la création, et la lenteur de la réflexion... Dans cet EP, les mots meurent à force d'être répétés, et se vident de tout leur sens, collés les uns aux autres ("Junkie"), perdus dans le son envahissant. Les mots ont beau s'engager dans la lutte, le combat ("Pussy's Moaning II" pour les Pussy Riot), ils meurent dans les cris et les larmes, étouffés par la violence du pouvoir. La musique se présente alors comme le dernier rempart, l'unique moyen de communiquer dans l'obscurité ("Lost Track").

We are proud to offer ThOmas.W's new EP, "The Death of Words." 6 new tracks tinged with new wave and lo-fi, oscillating between a messy DIY spontaneity and a sound creation sculpted in details. ThOmas.W is evolving within this paradox, this contradiction : he manipulates songs for weeks until he gets the quintessence of it ("Pretend you're dead"), or he plugs in his instruments to record "The Drowning" before it's too late... Creating fast, thinking slow... In this EP, words die because they're repeated, they lose their meaning, stuck to each other ("Junkie"), lost in the overwhelming sound. Although words get involved in the fight ("Pussy's Moaning II" for the Pussy Riot), they die in cries and tears, smothered by the violence of power. So, music is the last defence, the only means of communicating in the darkness ("Lost Track").
"The Death of Words" is dark, powerful and polymorphous... That's all we love at myhand.thanx!

Nous vous présentons Wystan Whitman, qui fait son arrivée sur myhand.thanx records avec ce somptueux mini-album "Instead of gun shopping." Wystan Whitman nous vient de Novi Sad, en Serbie. Il a déjà réalisé plusieurs albums sous le nom izmenavremena, mais ce mini-album est son premier en anglais. Composé et enregistré en quelques jours, "Instead of gun shopping" nous rappelle les grands jours de la folk lo-fi, et offre des titres spontanés, sans fioritures. La simplicité va même parfois juqu'à se débarrasser de la guitare ("Chains are everywhere," "Rock n roll Decisions")... En somme, Wystan Whitman fait honneur à la musique acoustique, et nous attendons la suite avec impatience!!!

Here is Wystan Whitman, a newcomer at myhand.thanx records with a somptuous mini-album, "Intsead of gun shopping." Wystan Whitman comes from Novi Sad, in Serbia. He has already released some albums under the name of izmenavremena, but this mini-album is his first written in English. Composed and recorded in a few days, "Instead of gun shopping" reminds us of the glorious days of lo-fi folk music, and offers spontaneous tracks with no frills. Simplicity sometimes even means getting rid of the guitar ("Chains are everywhere," "Rock n Roll Decisions")... C'est avec un plaisir sans mesure que myhand.thanx vous offre le dernier album de Tiny Concept, 2 ans après un album eponyme (mh.t007).
"Proof of Concept" propose 6 morceaux intenses et hypnotiques : de "Goodnight Blue Moon", berceuse démoniaque, à "Something is coming your way", love-song punk et aride, Letty ne prend aucun détour avec l'auditeur, ne fait aucun compromis avec le son, et reste minimale, animale... On va de la poésie nostalgique avec "Dreamland" à l'éloge hardcore de "Henry Barnes" ode à l'artiste noise de Man is the Bastard et Amps for Christ. La reprise de "Mongoloid" de Devo, suivie de "Allez tous crever" forment le coeur de ce court album, un coeur froid et ténébreux qui bat vite, de plus en plus vite...

It is with a huge pleasure that myhand.thanx releases Tiny Concept's last album, 2 years after her self-titled album (mh.t007). "Proof of Concept" consists in 6 intense and hypnotic tracks : from "Goodnight Blue Moon", a devilish lullaby, to "something is coming your way", a punk and dry love-song, Letty goes straight to the point, her sounds are uncompromised, and she remains minimal, animal... From the poetic nostalgia of "Dreamland" to a hardcore praise of "Henry Barnes" ode to the noise artist of Man is the Bastard and Amps for Christ. The cover of Devo's "Mongoloid", followed by "Allez tous crever", make the heart of this short album, a cold and dark heart taht beats fast, faster and faster...

mh.t028 - ThOmas.W - the to.w years

 En 1999, ThOmas.W décide de publier ses créations solo sous forme de CD-r qui seront distribués de façon assez aléatoire, au rythme des rencontres faites et des lieux visités. Jusqu'en 2005, plusieurs albums / EP seront réalisés, sous le pseudonyme "to.w". Voici 11 titres retraçant la chronologie de ces créations, ainsi que l'évolution musicale de ThOmas.W, jusqu'au EP "How to Contain Violence", qui annonce sans équivoque les albums suivants sortis sous le nom de "ThOmas.W".
 Cette compilation contient une version inédite live de "a story..." enregistrée en 2003 à Nancy avec à la voix .kbfrau, qui a dernièrement rejoint ThOmas.W sur le morceau "Peace" de son dernier EP (mh.t025).

In 1999, ThOmas.W decided to release his solo creations on CD-rs which would be given away depending on the people he would meet and the places he would visit. Until 2005, some albums / EP will be published under the name of "to.w". 11 tracks that will tell you more about the chronology and the musical evolution of ThOmas.W, until the release of "How to Contain Violence", which utterly announces the next albums released under the name of "ThOmas.W". This compilation contains a never-released live version of "a story..." recorded in 2003 in Nancy, with a voice performance by .kbfrau, who has lately joined ThOmas.W on "Peace" from his last EP (mh.t025).
